GT Bobcat Mumbannar 160
Friday, 18 May 2018
A strong field of 25 cars have nominated to contest this year’s GT Bobcat Mumbannar 160 hosted by the Millicent Sand Buggy Club. The short course event is to be run this Saturday 19th May just 30km East of Mt Gambier starting at 10am.

Consisting of a three heat format throughout the day, all cars will need to cover the 160km to be in contention for the outright trophies. Two-time winner Garry Turnbull will go in as the event favourite and looking to start his year with a strong performance in the Unlimited buggy. The Mt Gambier local will have his hands full to stay at the front with Damien Nicol showing great speed at the event last year and his trophy truck getting faster as he finds more balance from his car.

The largest field of the cars entered is in the buggy Class 2 and an outright podium from the contenders is not out of the question as the smaller powered vehicles get first use of the track for heat one. Aaron Heemskerk was one to watch last year and after the off season will be keen to show he still has the speed this time around. Peter Tamblyn is always a consistent performer and will be hoping to take some silverware back home.

The four wheel drive classes enjoy the racing format as they are able to push their vehicles to some fast lap times and experienced campaigner Heath Weedon will try to keep his rivals at bay and should have plenty of competition from Leon Chugg over the day.

There will be fantastic class battles at the GT Bobcat Mumbannar 160 and all the action is free for spectators. Catering is available and camping overnight also.
