Masters Podium... Peel, Nicol, James
Sunday, 29 July 2018
Jason Peel and Leon Chugg have driven consistently over the two day event to take outright victory at the Glenroy Plains Produce and PMD Race Products Off Road Masters. Peel and Chugg saluted the checkered flag in the #44 Element Off Road Gangster with a 1m11second lead over second placed Damien and Ben Nicol #430.

The Nicol brothers moved from their third place overnight position into second for the weekend after clocking in extremely consistent sub 20minute lap times.

Tanner James, in just his third race in the newly landed Alumi Craft single seat, finished the class 10 in third place to round out the Glenroy Plains Produce and PMD Race Products Off Road Masters outright podium.

After a big night in the workshop replacing a rear engine seal, overnight leaders Garry Turnbull and Chris Proud started the event but had a small spark plug lead fire just 3km into their first lap. Quick thinking extinguished the fire and the #79 Aceco continued on its way; unfortunately the overnight fix didn’t hold and the Aceco was in the hands of recovery before the end of lap one.

Sitting in second place at the overnight break didn’t do Todd Lehmann and Aaron Bermingham any favours either; the #85 Bullet, after inheriting the lead from Turnbull, out on lap two with rear suspension arm failure.
