St George 399... Ready - Set
Friday, 28 April 2017
The 2017 BFGoodrich CAMS Australian Off Road Championship has gone green with scrutiny at the first round, the St George 399, done and dusted.

42 teams have gone through the safety checking process with a good turnout of local St Georgian’s checking out the cars and teams. “We had a large number of locals coming out to talk with the crews and check out the cars” explained Tony Brose, Assistant Clerk of the Course and event organiser.

“Scrutiny went really well with the off roaders putting on a fantastic display for the locals. As a club, we’re happy with how the event is going and we’re very happy with how the teams are supporting the town; there is a line up out the door at the St George Bakery and Pizza shop.”

Saturday will see the running of the prologue through the 10km course, which will determine the starting order for the first section of the St George 399, five laps of the 36km course. In an effort to combat the foreseed dusty conditions, the field will be split into two group for the first section. SuperLites A and B, Super 1650, Production 4WD and Sportslite will line up as one group and Pro, ProLite, Extreme 2WD and Extreme 4WD with make up the second group.

With low 20 degree days forecasted and chilly overnight conditions, the scene is set for a tough weekend of off road racing though the St George landscape.
