Six Finke Wins for Rentsch
Monday, 11 June 2018
Shannon and Ian Rentsch have had a dream run at this years Tatts Finke Desert Race, the second round of the 2018 BFGoodrich CAMS Australian Off Road Championship. Backing up their 2017 victory, they now have six King of the Desert Titles to their names.

As Rentsch can attest, Finke can throw up many obstacles and you can enjoy the highest of highs or the lowest of lows. Not that many years ago, the son and father duo broke within sight of the finish line while leading the event, so know first hand not to take anything for granted and that the time spent in the workshop pre event is the key to a successful Finke run.

Shannon said in the post race interview, “we have never prologued first, been first down (to Finke) and first back (to the finish). It’s been a great run and a great relief to get home.

“We had a three minute lead this morning. We just went for it. We didn’t know how much of lead we still had over Toby (Price) until the last checkpoint, then we took it a bit easier from there; it’s just awesome that it all worked out.”,

Dave Fellows and Mark Bergamin added another Tatts Finke Desert Race podium to their list of achievements. Fellows commented “it was bit rough coming home, but we had a dust free run. There was a little bit of dust yesterday, but today was beautiful. It’s always good to be up the front. Unfortunately Toby broke which gave us clean air. The truck was awesome. Thanks to Mark for preparing it and thanks to Greg and Jenni for giving us the car to race”.

Make it a two three for Exact Mining Rhodes Racing was Jack Rhodes and David Pullino crossing the finish line in third place to secure their fourth Finke podium. “Big weekend, it’s been a big week… massive congratulation to Shannon and Ian, Dave and Mark; it’s awesome to have our team mates on the podium with us.

Talbot Cox and Andrew North drove a superb race to put the Racer Engineering #16 into fourth place with Michael Marson and Chris Colbourne #32 rounding out the 2018 Tatts Finke Desert Race top five.
