A new year brings new beginnings for the Brisbane Sporting Car Club, with the recent announcement of a two round short course series for 2019. Run under the CAMS umbrella, the Lockyer Short Course Series has a new organising committee, headed up by long time BSCC member and off road supporter Barry Neuendorff. David Ellsworth, who is also a long time off road competitor and supporter, will assist Barry with a vision of promoting two off road short course events at the Miulgowie venue in the Lockyer Valley region, an hour west of Brisbane.

With just over two weeks until the first round, the Thornton Short Course, scheduled for the 23-24 February, entries are open and rolling in and close on Saturday 16th February 2019.

The organsising committee have been out inspecting and laying out the 7km course; a course that is fairly open and fast as it makes its way around the foothills. The Thornton Short Course will consist of 2 heats on Saturday and 3 heats on Sunday. Competitors will be broken up into groups for each heat and will contest 3 continuous laps of the 7km course.

The Pit and Headquarters Precinct will be situated at the end of Peters Road, Thornton, which is also a great vantage point for spectators as a large percentage of the course can be viewed from there, including the big jump just before the finish line.

The second and final round of the Lockyer Short Course Series is scheduled 9-10 November and will be a great way for Queensland offroaders to wind up the 2019 season. “These dates have been chosen to prevent clashes with other events in a very busy off road calendar throughout 2019. The two events will take place at two separate venues, offering competitors two very different course layouts, which utilise sections of track that made up the Lockyer Enduro course. The course layouts are sure to excite and challenge competitors with the varying and unique terrain each event will offer and also provide spectators with some great vantage points to see all the action as it unfolds.”
