Morning to all Competitors, Officials and Spectators.

We now have 71 entries which is comforting after some weeks of wondering whether they would arrive and it’s interesting to note the SXS Turbos top the entry list.

The course this year has had some of the narrow sections widened for safety reasons which will certainly please the bigger cars. Mind you, the course still has some tighter sections that will no doubt favour the smaller cars. We have upgraded the course, in the first instance to make it safer, and secondly suitable for all vehicles and thirdly much more viewing for spectators who will be positioned on the tank/dam walls and have catering and drinks at their fingertips.

The track preparation is now finished and when you look at the map it appears to be a maze of roads going back and forth which it is to some extent, but the map doesn’t portray the correct image. Plenty of flat out stuff to race on, and plenty of smooth highway like roads.

A handful of us head out to St George this weekend for the final inspection and the preliminary set up to ease the body pains for the week leading into the event. Hopefully, also tie up a couple of loose ends and visit our Event Partners who have been hard at work over the past months. Let’s hope they get some nice rain to settle everything down.

We have been fortunate this year to have Campbell Smith from Corostar Motorsport join us which allows us to help our volunteers with some of their fuel costs etc, which has been something I have been working on for some time now. We probably cannot reimburse it all but if they give me their invoice/invoices we will certainly do as much as we can. More of the operation on this later.

I must say in closing, a big thanks to the guys in and around St. George for all their work, help and assistance on the track and the HQ area. They are Hank Parker, Hamish McIntyre Eddie Bowman, Graham Wipple and of course our extraordinaire Trent Challenger who not only owns the St. George Bakery, but makes the best pies in St. George.
