World Series Off Road comes to South Australia
Thursday, 23 July 2020
Due to the South Australian Off Road Racing Association Series being cancelled this year, due to only two remaining events left in the SAORRA calendar and this not complying with the series regulations, a new series for the remainder of the year has been launched; the World Series Off Road will group up some of the remaining races on the South Australian calendar with a point score and end of series awards.

The Series Director Mark Taylor said, “it was disappointing that the current pandemic saw the cancellation of the SAORRA series for 2020, but I wanted set up a series for the remaining races in the season and add some extra spark to the SA racing calendar. It’s all about getting cars at races, families camping and fun. If a series encompassing club races can bring extra entrants to events, then I have done my job. In discussions with SA Club Presidents, the feedback has been supportive for a series to be developed for the balance of the 2020 season.”

“With border closures affecting the ARB and AORC National rounds, as well as cutting off the interstate club level competitors from attending South Australian events, the ability to add some pizzazz and excitement to the remaining SA club events is a must.”

The World Series Off Road is supported by valued sponsors, who have come on board to see local club racing stay strong for the remainder of 2020. The series sponsors are Summit Glass, Century Batteries, River Murray Auto Wreckers, Filmer Delivery and Erceg Motorsport.

World Series Off Road has secured two events so far, but is hoping to extend this to 3 or 4 rounds:
  • Century Batteries Wynarka Enduro – August
  • Clive Dubois Memorial Short Course Mannum – September

“We are in discussions with other parties to hopefully add a third race in October and a fourth race in November.”

To qualify for points, all competitors need to do is compete in the qualifying events, with points allocated on the final results based on the event regulations. The series point score is open to all competitors that compete in the series events and is open to members from all clubs both Motorsport Australia and AASA aligned.

The season will be finished off with a relaxing Sunday afternoon in late November / Early December, where a series winner’s presentations will occur. Series awards will be 1st to 3rd Outright and 1st to 3rd in each class.

We encourage the South Australian Off Road community to get behind the series and make it a success.
