Award winning event returns to rainbow
Thursday, 04 March 2021
The Rainbow Rises 240, which was recently awarded the Hindmarsh Shire Community Event of the Year, returns to the central Victorian township of Rainbow for its third running.

50 teams from across Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales have entered the popular short course event, with some off road racings elite looking for their first hit out in over 12 months.

2020 Rainbow Rises 240 was the last event to run in Victoria in the pre-Covid-19 era giving rise to an impressive field of racers across the classes.

With names like Hanson, Burrows, Chasemore, Owen, Brown, Brown, Lehmann, and that’s just the Pro buggies, it’s impossible to predict a podium. Add to the mix the Extreme 2WDs of Greg and Ben Gartner, Sibson and Leech, plus the impressive field of Sportslite contenders and the large field of SXS Turbo’s, the podium come the drop of the checkered flag could be an assortment of classes and machines.

Regardless, it is guaranteed to be an exciting weekend of off road racing. Why not head out to Rainbow and check out the off road racing machines; with free entry, come and enjoy a great day watching the cars put through their paces at the Rainbow Rises 240.

There will be a range of catering options at the track on both days including breakfast bacon and egg sandwiches (cooked until 10am), and lunch options including barbequed sausages and hamburgers, sandwiches, hot jam donuts and ice-cream, as well as hot and cold drinks will be available for purchase throughout the weekend.

All money raised from the weekend's sales will go into making the Rainbow Desert Enduro and Rainbow Rises 240 events even better throughout the years.

Local stores will also be open for food options including Rainbow IGA, Royal Hotel, Eureka Hotel, Federal Wood Fired Pizzeria, and Shell Service Station.

All of the weekend's racing will take place on the eight kilometre prologue track at the GrainCorp site on Bow Hill, less than one kilometre west of Rainbow.

Racing will commence at around 11.30am on Saturday with drivers completing nine laps of the track in sections one and two.

Sunday's racing will see 19 laps completed by each of the groups of vehicles; racing will commence at 8.00 am with a trophy presentation at the completion of the event.

Rainbow Rises 240 will be run as COVID Safe event and is registered with the Victorian State Government. All spectators must sign in and be issued with a wristband to confirm check-in and follow strict COVID safe practices.

The Rainbow Rises 240 is the opening round of 2021 Victorian Off Road Championship, round 1 of 2021 Victorian Off Road Club Shield and round 1 of 2021 VORRA Club Championship.
