Backing up from Chelsea Haby’s stellar drive in yesterday’s Denise Gosden Memorial Ladies and Juniors Enduro where Chelsea with Dad Aaron Haby navigating, drove the #57 Element Prodigy into second outright; the Haby family team have finished at the top of the time sheets for day one of the Filmer Delivery Gawler Road Knights Car Club Enduro as the field head into the overnight break.

Hayden Bentley #418, who so far has done more laps than anyone around the Pt Germein track, having navigated yesterday for both Hannah and Sam who double entered their #1018 Racer, used that track knowledge to his advantage to finish second outright, albeit 4m09s behind Haby.

Adam Bierl and Nyree Burmingham #35 in the second run of their recently acquired ex Todd Lehmann Jimco were just 8seconds off the pace of Bentley to round out the top three of day one of the Filmer Delivery Gawler Road Knights Car Club Enduro and day two of off road racing at Pt Germein.

Chris Pickert with Geoff and Dianna sharing the navigating duties drove the #577 Triton to the max to slot into fourth outright with Shane Waters and Adrian Gardiner #1063 rounding out the Filmer Delivery 200.

The unique format, which had the Ladies and Juniors compete on Saturday as a pre-runner to the two day Enduro and season finale for the SAORRA MultiClub Series, has proved a raging success with 22 entries for Saturday and 37 teams greeting the start lights for todays 6 laps.

Murray Rogers, Clerk of the Course had this to day… “the three day, two event concept has proven to be a great innovation. We had the largest Ladies and Juniors field in a very long time, which was fantastic to see. The nerves nearly got to a few of our drivers yesterday morning, but they toughed it out, and in the end, I’d say they all had a ball and conquered their fears… and not one of the Dads/husbands/partners had to see the medics.”

“In all seriousness, it was awesome to see so many ladies and juniors giving it a go and pushing themselves out of their comfort zones. The feel in the pits and camp ground is different too; for lack of a better word, I’d say people seem happier. There’s proud Dads talking about their kids getting airborne over the jumps, comparing their lap times and tracking their improvements. It’s a good feeling to be a part of it. ”

Chelsea Haby’s second outright for Saturday and with Aaron sitting in first outright today, a Pt Germein double podium is in sight for the Haby family.

Murray Rogers added “after the Ladies and Juniors had finished and we saw that dust would be an issue, we revisited and rejigged the time schedule for the enduro on Sunday and Monday to split the field into three heats per race instead of two heats. We also added two more laps on Sunday, now five, and reduced Monday to six laps instead of eight. The revised format worked well today.”

Racing gets underway at 8am Monday morning with the 33 remaining cars split into three heats of 11. Follow the action with the live results of
