Speed and consistency ruled at the opening day of the Can-Am Loveday 400 the BFGoodrich Motorsport Australia Off Road Cup – Central with brothers Wes and Rob Cowie driving coming leading the field at the end of Saturday’s racing, 39.1 seconds ahead of the chasing pack.

After a torrential thunderstorm hit the region on Thursday, the standing water cleared and near perfect track conditions awaited the 31 contenders.

After qualifying in second place behind Greg Gartner, Hayden and Hannah Bentley drove the #418 Racer Trophy Truck into second place with a massive 4m18s over third place Chris Pickert and Jackson Brown #577. Tyson and Chris Proud #53 slotted into fourth place with Rich Andrews and daughters Jamie and Lauren sharing the navigating duties of the #137 WOFTAM machine.

Greg Gartner and Jamie Jennings #410 were leading the field until tail shaft failure ended their Saturday; but have already repaired the Ford F150 and will be on the line when the lights go green tomorrow.
